Rick was a friend and classmate at Vance AFB where we both earned our wings. He went to Vietnam and was severely injured in combat but fought hard not to be medically retired. He was at the other end of the spectrum from me at the Academy and was the CS-22 Squadron Commander. His AOC Maj Walter McMillan was happy for his selection. Here Bill “Wooder” Wood is giving Rick’s saber to the 50 year later commander of CS-22, C/LtCol John Fredericks.
