The Origin
The Legacy Saber project began when LtCol Darrel R Knutson got the saber he had given his parents back from his mother shortly before her death. With a son not particularly interested in it and no one to give it to he decided to give it to the oldest cadet in the Legacy Class of 2018. He had been the original old man in the class of 1968 until a cadet was turned back from the class of 1967. While attempting to get the name of the oldest cadet CCapt Victoria Rodriquez, the C-OIC of the 100 Night festivities asked “How many of your classmates want to join you?”
This lead to some blast emails through the Association of Graduates that resulted in 14 classmates offering to donate their saber. The response was varied with one classmate asking if he could donate a broken saber and another asking if he could donate a saber without a scabbard.
