Recipient from: Ron Jackson
Selection criteria: An “at large” selection to a “deserving cadet”.
C/Capt Victoria Rodriguez was responsible for the entire Legacy Saber Program. When she heard about a request for information on giving a saber to the oldest cadet she sprang into action. As the C/OIC for the 100 Night festivities she contacted the instigator, Darrel Knutson, and asked the crucial question “How many of your classmates want to join you?” Without this question being asked only one saber would have been given to a cadet. Probably in a dark stairwell.
Due to her question and then assistance in many different ways the Class of 1968 ended up giving sabers from 19 graduates to 18 cadets in the Legacy Class of 2018. It was only fitting that she assisted in presenting the very first saber and then received the second saber given. Many thanks are due to her.
I was very proud to be able to give Ron Jackson’s saber to Cadet Rodriguez. There was no more deserving a cadet.
C/Capt Victoria Rodriguez helping to C/Capt Rodriguez learning that she is also open the actual giving of sabers to cadets. going to receive her own saber from Col
