This site is dedicated to the graduates of the United States Air Force Academy who have given their personal sabers to members of a succeeding graduating class. This is a completely unofficial program where donors pass the saber they purchased usually at graduation on to a member of a succeeding class. This is usually their 50th anniversary or Legacy Class. Each saber is engraved with the name of the donor with rank and class along with the name and class of the recipient. It is up to the recipient to “write in” their own rank.
Attached with each saber is a short biography of the donor to the recipient. This website is set up to show the variations in careers Academy graduates have. Each class has a listing of the donors and recipients. The listing of receiving classes identifies the recipients and allows them to make comments and add to their history.
Sabers are freely given based on the individual criteria of the donor. The class point of contact attempts to match this criteria as much as possible. Because of this completely random and arbitrary method of selection the sabers are given at a Flying Fickle Finger of Fate Event.
Cadet recipients are under no obligation but are reminded that their saber now has THEIR name on it. It is incumbent on the recipient to remember this and take what ever steps they feel necessary to keep the saber out of a Thrift Store window. It is hoped that they will add their rank and a new name by passing the saber to a child, grandchild or prodigy. If they have their saber at their 50th anniversary they should consider passing it to one of their Legacy Class graduates.
